The University of Namibia awarded Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila and business woman Martha Namundjebo-Tilahun doctorate degrees (honoris causa) in Windhoek on Friday 13th Nov 2015. An honorary doctorate degree is an academic degree for which a university (or other degree awarding institution)) has waived the usual requirements such as matriculation, resident, study and the passing of examinations. They collected the awards from former President and Unam Chancellor Hifike Punye Pohamba.
Namundjebo-Tilahun, who was aware a doctorate in business administration (honoris causa) has excelled in the business sector, according to UNAM's vice-chancellor Lazarus Hangula. This graduation could not have come at a better time since because for very long, women have been under represented in terms of higher education and leadership said Pohamba who conferred the doctorates.
